i used to see him around the neighborhood. and he'd smile and say hello. >> where he used to work, abigail showed them this picture of the crew in 2015. that is the murder victim, dressed as batman. >> i heard he was missing and we kind of feared the worst. it was upsetting it was him. >> reporter: kimberly was let go at the beginning of the year. nicole lamb berson hadn't thought about the victim. he disappeared 20 days ago. >> his dad came here trying to put up posters. that is the last thing i heard. >> reporter: detectives examined the body yesterday, they expected it might be kimberly. now, detectives want to know, did he die here? or did his assailant carry the body in before burying it? >> it's a long ways to go from any type of parking lot or area

into that thickett of bushes. >> reporter: if there is a motive or a suspect, they're not yet sharing. an associate professor of surgery at the va medical center has been fired following an arrest yesterday. investigators say christopher owens was put on unpaid leave and privileges, terminated. officials say the arrest was related to his prescribing of narcotics. >> we're following developing news on the sex scandal affecting law enforcement around the bay area, prosecutors said today they'll only charge one person in connection with the scandal z that is just a misdemeanor. the d.a. has investigated officers' connections to abuslin for several months. some of the charges are felonies. the da says that is just not the

case there. >> based on her statement that's the sexual interactions with police officers in contra costa county was when she was over 18 and were consensual. >> two people are accused of murder of a 21-year-old sheriff's office volunteer. the body was found yesterday, in a park in east oakland. abc7 news reporter vic lee is live with this development. vic? >> reporter: it's good work by police, everything came down quickly. the victim was identified through her fingerprints and oakland police officers and alameda county prosecutors

interrogating suspects. the homicide commander told us he's confident both will be charged with the murder after the interviews. >> the 21-year-old was missing since wednesday, police called it suspicious. she dropped off a friend around 10:00 that night in san leandro. that awas the last time anyone saw her. >> she dropped off a friend and never returned. she doesn't have vices. she's a student, studying to be a cop. police found her car, a white chevy, yesterday morning. her body found at arroyo vejello park. she'd been beaten and stabbed. >> she received burns.

after a resident confronted them. police say one woman was carrying a lot of mail. police found methamphetamine and stolen mail and credit cards. >> a fairfield man is in jail, accused of groping four young girls over two weeks in october. all of the incidents happened in popular stores in that area. eric thomas is live with more on what led police to this suspect. eric? >> the suspect is jailed here on $775,000 bond. the official charge, activity with a child under 14 police believe they have solid evidence on this man. the 32-year-old, in four molestations. the first two reported to officers took place on october 30th. one at this party city store,

and another, across the street. >> they learned an adult male placed his hands on the buttocks of two children that were approximately 10 years of age. >> investigators learned of another assault in a nearby michael's store. on october 23rd a 12-year-old girl at dollar tree store in sassoon city suffered i similar assault. >> while inside of the store, the male subject, we believe, went up and grabbed the buttocks of the child. >> investigators in both cities say the evidence began to pile up, and point at the suspect. >> what was the vehicle description part was information from witnesses and part obtained from security videos. >> fairfield police say this is the first time he has appeared on their radar, though he has an arrest record from nevada. this father of a young girl is just relieved to have him off the streets.

>> just the thought of my daughter, being hurt or, watched by another person or anything like that, just hurts me. >> officers were afraid this may be more victims out there. anyone who knows if the suspect is connected to other crimes is asked to call police. in fairfield, eric thomas, abc7 news. san francisco police say a usf student was up loading child porn from his dorm room. police arrested him yesterday, saying the 20-year-old nursing student had 600 images and videos on his computer, drthing them online. many children were younger than three years old. the sacramento area native's facebook profile indicates he worked as a camp counsellor. there is no indication any campers were related to this investigation. a controversial homeless

encampment in berkeley was taken down by the city. police and city workers kicked out campers before dawn. a spokesperson tells us there were numerous complaints of filth and drug use. and officials gave campers written notice to vacate this plaza at ashby. there are protective barriers there, today. >> officials are putting crab back on the table. crab fishing season begins tomorrow. fresh crab should hit stores soon after. last year a toxic acid delayed the opening for several

the scene of a huge fire in oakland is now the scene of a full on federal investigation. more than two dozen agents with the atf's national response team are working the site on lester avenue. the fire department asked the team for help in trying to determine the cause. today, abc7 news saw agents digging through the debris and removing large, charred beams. >> we're in the earl hi -- early stages of the investigation. we'll let evidence guide us to a conclusion. >> agents are trying to connect with anyone who may have taken

video or pictures monday morning. and plan to use a dog team to sniff for a trace of a sort of accelerant. an art exhibit is generating a lot of attention at the site of a deadly fire last year. people stopped to look at the display, it features 60 white pieces of clothing. in january, last year a huge apartment fire displaced 60 residents. the measure q, banning tents on city streets. this car lot might give rise to micro apartments. according to socket site, a developer wants to build units that would each measure fewer than 200 square feet. residents would share a community kitchen and lounge. >> plenty of space, right?

golden gate park. mayor ed lee helped police the last speed humps on the road. 10 have been installed between crossover drive and the great highway. >> people are traveling during the day. these will slow people down. >> the speed humps are expected to lower speeds from 40 to 20 miles per hour. the city plans to install speed humps along martin luther king junior drive on the south side of golden gate park. >> changes coming our way. we fall back to standard time so rain may fall as well. we have clear skies with thin, wispy clouds. this is the view from our east
